After 1.5 years of development, I’m excited to announce the upcoming release of SimPictures. This blog post offers more details about the project.
Here is what it is all about
One day, I had an idea: “Why not create a hub for plane spotters... but for flight simmers?”
SimPictures is a platform that lets you share flight simulator screenshots, discover new add-ons, and find inspiration for your next virtual flight. This platform benefits both flight simmers and flight simulator developers by providing a space to connect and showcase their work.
Strict content moderation ensures a high-quality standard for pictures, providing the best user experience.
The initial version of SimPictures includes the following features:
- A customizable profile page
- The ability to submit and share your screenshots once approved by the moderators
- A home page showcasing the most recent accepted pictures and a basic member search
Many more features and enhancements based on user feedback will come in future updates.
Updated landing page, new blog & documentation
A new fresh version of the website just got launched today! The update includes a cleaner, more intuitive landing page, a brand-new blog, and improved documentation with an enhanced sidebar for easier navigation.
You can explore the About page and the Guidelines, meanwhile other sections, like the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, are still in progress.
It’s almost here
The release date is getting closer: November 5th, 2024. Right now, I’m focused on making final corrections to the app, as well as completing the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
It’s been a long journey, full of challenges and fun. I’ve had to learn so much along the way. At times, I realized that half the app needed rewriting — and so I rewrote it. Every piece of logic, every form, and every button had to work seamlessly and feel intuitive for users.
While I developed the whole website by myself, I’m thankful to those who provided me with helpful feedback and advice. This journey would not have been possible without the support and insights from others.
Thanks to everyone for the support
Some of my friends have tested the site and uploaded their screenshots, providing valuable feedback and ideas. While there’s still room for improvement, I’m happy to say that SimPictures is now in a stable state, and I’m confident in sharing it with you soon.
Stay tuned for more updates as we approach the launch date!
